The ATSB has issued another warning about removing pitot probe covers after a Singapore Airlines A350-900 almost pushed back with the covers still fitted.

BAE Systems Australia announced that it has launched a new academic scholarship for women in regional Australia – to undertake an engineering degree and explore career opportunities in defence industry – and named it after Australia’s first two female RAAF pilots.

An ATSB investigation concluded that crew onboard the aircraft noticed a fuel imbalance but misdiagnosed the cause of the problem.

This latest round of apprentices brings Sikorsky’s 2024 intake to 16 apprentices, representing nearly 20 per cent of the company’s technical workforce with an annual investment of over $1 million.

In its report into the incident last October, the safety watchdog found the pilot of VH-JUA had incorrectly set flaps to 40 degrees instead of 20 degrees, as recommended in the plane’s manual for a go-around and said the incident highlights the importance of correctly following checklists.

The Camcopter S-100 has become the first vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) system to receive the approval and will now be able to operate in Australian civil aerospace. The capability received a Defence Aviation Safety Authority Permit in 2017, granted to the Royal Australian Navy.
