Cebu Pacific will increase its flights to Manila from three to four times weekly in December, using its fleet of A330-900neos.

The former Transport Minister also praised the regional carrier and said it was brave to launch capital city jet services against Qantas and Virgin.

The site will serve both Australia and New Zealand and aims to eventually boost the accuracy of GPS signals to as little as 10 centimetres.

The extra service, which was initially due to launch in November, means the carrier will now fly to the Queensland capital 25 times per week in total.

The news caps a sensational turnaround after Rex took the leases of old Virgin aircraft following its own collapse during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Regional Saab 340 flights are currently unaffected and will continue to operate, while subsidiaries Pel-Air Air Ambulance Services and Australian Airline Pilot Academy also remain outside of administration and under the control of their respective directors.
