New Eurocopter Twin?

Eurocopter is currently studying the development of an all new twin engine helicopter to replace the successful Dauphin. The advanced new helicopter, designated EC 165, would be in the five to six tonne (11,000 to 13,215 lb) class, incorporate new technologies currently being investigated under the German Government sponsored Helicopter 2010 program, and may be powered by MTR390 turboshafts (as on the Eurocopter Tiger). The development of the EC 165 would be timed to provide a timely replacement for the 500 plus Dauphins currently in service worldwide which will come up for replacement over the next two decades.

Schweizer 330 Cracks Military Market

The Dutch Navy has awarded Holland’s Schweizer distributor, Heli-Holland, a contract to provide basic and advanced helicopter pilot training, resulting in the first military application for the turbine Schweizer 330. The Schweizer 330s will be used for basic pilot training. Emmer-Compascuum based Heli-Holland will begin training the first six to eight Dutch Navy helicopter pilots this September. The trainee pilots will undergo a seven week basic training period on the 330, before progressing to the six week long advanced training phase. Dutch Navy helicopter pilots were previously trained by the Dutch Air Force.
