The strength within
Former Australian Aviation editor Keith Tonkin argues the industry needs to listen and learn from its experienced staff to survive and emerge from these volatile times
It’s funny that they came up with the term VUCA before 2020 even happened. Before any of us had heard of COVID-19. Before the world simultaneously caught a nasty bug that was bad for people, devastating for economies and disastrous for the global aviation industry.
VUCA was coined to reflect the challenges of operating, and leading, in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous world. I can almost remember the management seminar of 2019 promoting how we should do just that in the VUCA world pre COVID-19. Boy did we have an education coming our way.
