Half a decade of celebrating sky-high excellence

Aviation’s night of nights, the fifth annual Australian Aviation Awards, is here again

The Australian Aviation Awards are back for their fifth year, returning to The Star on Thursday, 6 August for a star-studded night feting the best of the best in our aviation sector. Established in 2022 and held alongside the Australian Aviation Summit since 2024, the awards have grown into a must-attend night on the aviation calendar.

From the cockpit to the hangar and from the classroom to the boardroom, these awards celebrate the full spectrum of our industry. With 11 individual and 18 group categories available this year, there is a place for every success story. The highest-scoring individual winner will walk away with the most prestigious trophy of the night: the coveted Australian Aviation Excellence Award.

The awards are judged by a highly respected panel of experts using a rigorous, transparent methodology. Developed in partnership with Momentum Media, Australian Aviation, and leading industry professionals, our criteria balance both quantitative results and qualitative impact.

“These awards are about recognising the best and brightest in Australia’s aviation industry, both businesses, training and academic organisations and the men and women that keep our sector flying,” said Steve Kuper, defence and aerospace lead at Momentum Markets.

“We’re looking for growth, business development, diversity, leadership, and a genuine contribution to the future of the Australian aviation sector.”

Last year’s awards crowned 30 winners from 194 finalists across 29 categories, with Sue-anne Munckton of Civil Aviation Academy Australasia (Sky Careers) taking home the Excellence Award alongside her recognition as Executive of the Year. Other individual award winners included representatives from Babcock, RMIT University, Airservices, Airbus, and Flightdeck Group, while companies and organisations walking away with trophies included LifeFlight, Cairns Airport, Leidos Australia, and Kattsafe.

The Australian Aviation Awards provide innovative aviation businesses and professionals the opportunity to build credibility, grow their business, and distinguish themselves from their competitors when attracting and retaining top talent.

“We’re blown away each and every year by the high calibre of entries on display, from individual achievements to organisational excellence, and we’re sure 2026 will be no exception – this is a night you can’t miss, so secure your tickets as early as possible,” Kuper added.
