A No. 6 Squadron EA-18G Growler conducted aircrew familiarisation flights into Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport in November. A46-306 is one of 12 Growlers operated by the RAAF, usually based at RAAF Base Amberley. The first of the type arrived in 2017, and the RAAF is the only air force outside of the US to own any. Australian Aviation’s long-time photographer Victor Pody shot this perfect picture of a Royal Brunei Airlines Dreamliner eclipsing the sun. The six-year-old 787-8, V8-DLE, has recently been flying to both Melbourne and Rockhampton on regular trips to Brunei, Singapore and Hong Kong. (Click to see it full-length)
This unlikely photo shows the moment a lightning bolt struck Mount Arayat in the Philippines, right behind a RAAF Poseidon. The Australian P-8A was in the region taking part in a Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity in September, an exercise that saw Australian personnel train alongside those from New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan and the US.
