Inside Qantas’ new Project Sunrise A350s

The Flying Kangaroo has finally secured 12 Airbus A350-1000s for its inaugural Project Sunrise flights, coming to Sydney in just three short years

Early in May, Qantas finally put pen to paper on its order of 12 Airbus A350-1000 extra-long range aircraft, which will soon connect Australia to just about every major city in the world. It marked the next major milestone in Qantas’ long-awaited Project Sunrise venture, which hopes to connect Australia’s major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, to the world’s top tourist destinations, no matter how far-flung.

The airline will launch non-stop flights between Sydney and London in late 2025, however, will later include destinations such as New York, Paris, Rome, Chicago, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town and more. Qantas expects all 12 of its A350s to be delivered by 2028, at which point the Project Sunrise network will be in full swing.
