The government has released the long-awaited Defence Strategy Update and Force Structure Plan, which earmark $270 billion over the next decade, with Air Force and emerging space capabilities set to be major beneficiaries

As the world’s only nation to span the entirety of its own continent, Australia’s aerial approaches are among the most complex, diverse and immense in the world, often posing challenges for Australia’s military planners and decision makers. 

While technology has served in some way to shrink the immense size of the continent, technological advances across the air combat, air lift and multidomain focused intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance domains have also shifted the balance of power, resulting in a more contested environment.
