The pandemic has had a devastating effect on the tourism industry, but now we are healing and getting ready to restart in a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive manner to benefit the people and places that Australians want to visit once again
AUSTRALIA HAS been closed off from the world since March 2020, and as we inch closer to the 80 per cent vaccination threshold, many are asking what the future looks like for the travel industry. Tourism has been one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, with many businesses coming to a complete standstill, however travel all over the world is bouncing back and on the road to recovery.
Much like Europe and the US have opened their borders to fully vaccinated travellers, Australia is expected to do the same in the near future. This will likely be possible through continued mandatory COVID-19 testing, vaccination passports and home quarantine as the baseline for how we travel in a post-pandemic world.
