Boeing Facility A Testament to AUS Capability
In September 2021, Boeing Defence Australia announced the launch of a new assembly facility for its Loyal Wingman unmanned aircraft at the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport in Queensland

THE LOYAL Wingman is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years – most of which, if not all, has been completed in Queensland. It is therefore extremely fitting for Boeing to construct its very first final assembly plant outside of the United States at Wellcamp, in Queensland’s iconic Darling Downs region.
The decision has massive and exciting implications for Toowoomba, for Queensland, and for Australia as a whole. The move is a major step-up for Australia’s growing sovereign aerospace manufacturing capabilities, and Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is ready and waiting to support this growing sector.
