We have now released our first six episodes, jam-packed with stories, insight and information from some of Australia’s top female aviators.

Among the star-studded line-up of guests so far is pioneering female aviator Deborah Lawrie. Undoubtedly a name you’ve heard before, Deb was Australia’s first female pilot for a major commercial airline, following a years-long battle with Ansett Airlines that made it all the way to the High Court.

She joined us to discuss the details of the case, as well as her early career in aviation, and the barriers that still permeate through the aviation industry to this day for women.

More recently, we also sat down with RAAF’s Roulette Seven Aimee Heal, the second-ever female to join the ranks of the Roulettes and only current member. Aimee shared her thought process behind her decision to enter the Australian Defence Force, her experience rising through the ranks, and how she has gone about mentoring younger women following in her footsteps.

Along with Deb and Aimee, we have chatted with Australian Aviation contributor and recruitment extraordinaire Kirsty Ferguson, Nova Systems’ general manager of operations Kristen Raby, and the CSIRO’s chief drone pilot Amanda Meys.

Plus, on our very special space-themed third episode, we sat down with space historian, YouTuber, TV host, and now, biographical author Amy Shira Tietel, who penned a book to tell the true story of the two talented pilots vying to become NASA’s first female astronauts, and the Mercury 13.

And we’re still just getting started!

So come join us on our journey and learn from some of Australia’s biggest female aviation stars, from captains, scientists, historians, advisers and key decision makers, to those fighting for change.

You can tune in to Sky’s The Limit via the Australian Aviation Podcast Network, available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or online at australianaviation.com.au.
