Oshkosh… My gosh
If avgeeks had to visit the aviation equivalent of Mecca, surely Oshkosh is it!
The countryside around Oshkosh, Wisconsin has been rolled level over the millennia by ancient glaciers, and today is so green and so flat that the only discernible variations in elevation come from small pockets of thick woodland, or man-made grain silos and windmills.
Despite the beauty of its surrounds, nothing much happens in Oshkosh. Located about 300km north of Chicago and about 100km northwest of Milwaukee, its main industries are dairy and other forms of agriculture, and with its large University of Wisconsin campus, education. The town centre is generally quiet, with many businesses closed and commercial spaces boarded up.
