737-838/W VH-VXE returned to service in the Silver Roo livery on July 10 when it operated QF969 from Townsville to Brisbane.

Dash 8-402Q VH-QOK Lismore returned to service on July 4 after being painted in the Silver Roo livery while Dash 8-402Q VH-QOV took its place in the Flying Colours hangar for painting between July 4 and July 17. Dash 8-402Q VH-QOX in turn then entered the paint shop between July 16 and July 28.

Dash 8-202 VH-TQX operated QF101 from Brisbane to Townsville on July 28 with the aircraft then entering the Flying Colours hangar for painting.
Qantas Freight 737-376F VH-XML departed Perth for Seletar as QF7390 on July 20 for planned maintenance.

767-381F VH-EFR which was hangered in Brisbane for planned maintenance on June 18 (Traffic/August) returned to service on June 30 when it ferried from Brisbane to Sydney as QF7584 prior to operating QF7527 from Sydney to Auckland.

767-381F VH-EFR as QF7537 departed Sydney for New Chitose on July 27 and the same day departed as QF7538 for Melbourne and Sydney where it arrived on July 28.

Qantas Freight has announced that effective August 26 their 767-381F VH-EFR will operate a weekly service Sydney-Darwin-Hong Kong-Sydney as QF7517/7517/7518.

Airline News

In this issue we report the delivery of an A330-200 to Fiji Airways and a 777-35E(ER) to Air New Zealand.

Air New Zealand has leased 777-35E(ER) B-16717 from EVA Air to cover 787 engine problems. The 777-35E(ER) which still carried EVA Air livery was delivered to Auckland from Taipei as EVA 361 on August 5. The 777-35E(ER) which was later registered to Air New Zealand as ZK-OKT was planned to enter service in late August.

777-212(ER) ZK-OKJ msn 30872 ex 9V-SVG will be leased from Singapore Airlines with the aircraft planned for delivery in late August.

787-9 ZK-NZN msn 38182/749 and 787-9 ZK-NZQ msn 39296/751 are currently planned for delivery to Air New Zealand in late September.

Air New Zealand was planning to take delivery of their first A321-271NX/NEO ZK-NNA msn 8496 in September with A321-271NX/NEO ZK-NNB msn 8542 to follow in October.

Air New Zealand Link/Mount Cook was planning to take delivery of ATR 72-600 ZK-MVV msn 1507 in mid-August.

ATR 72-500 ZK-MCB was withdrawn from service on July 15 after operating NZ5187 from Palmerston North to Christchurch.

Alliance Fokker 100 VH-XWR which had departed Brisbane on June 7 for maintenance in Bratislava returned to Brisbane on July 22. The ferry flight which was contracted to Southern Cross as SXI 1804 operated via Nagpur, Subang, Kupang and Cairns.

Fokker 100 VH-UQC which was delivered to Brisbane on June 29 (Traffic/August) entered service with Alliance on July 10 from Brisbane to Alice Springs.

Fiji Airways took delivery of A330-243 S7-VDM at Nadi on June 27 (Traffic/August) later registered the aircraft DQ-FJP. On July 8 DQ-FJP Island of Vatulele entered service with Fiji Airways when it operated FJ411 from Nadi to Auckland.

Solomon Airlines A320-211 H4-BUS which has been overseas for 6 months returned to Brisbane on July 31 as SOL623 from Seletar and Darwin. On August 1 H4-SOL returned to service with Solomon when it operated SOL701 from Brisbane to Honiara.

Virgin Group News

In this issue we report the departure of Virgin Australia E190-100IGW.

Virgin Australia withdrew 737-8FE/W VH-VOR from service on August 3 after it operated VOZ150 from Auckland to Brisbane. On August 7 VH-VOR was ferried from Brisbane to Wagga Wagga as VOZ9907 where on arrival the allover white 737-8FE/W entered the Douglas Aerospace hangar for painting in the colours of TigerAir.

Virgin Australia E190-100IGW VH-ZPT was withdrawn from service on December 30 and later ferried to Clark Field in the Philippines for planned maintenance (Traffic/March). While in the Philippines VH-ZPT was earmarked for operation with JetGo however before being delivered JetGo ceased operations on June 1. VH-ZPT now carrying the colours of JetGo but with the titles removed ferried out of Clark Field on July 16 as VOZ9946 to Darwin and Cairns and from Cairns departed on July 19 on ferry to Nashville via Nadi, Apia, Honolulu and Van Nuys.

E190-100IGW VH-ZPC was cancelled from the register on August 1 and the following day was registered N170NC to Wilmington Trust.

Virgin Australia Regional Fokker 100 VH-FSW departed Perth as VOZ9940 for Karratha and Port Hedland on July 10 and after overnighting continued to Seletar for planned maintenance.

ATR-72-600 VH-FVP which was ferried from Canberra to Nelson for storage on March 19 ferried from Nelson to Melbourne as VOZ9947 on July 13. VH-FVP returned to service with VARA on July 18 when it operated VOZ9907 from Melbourne to Canberra.

ATR 72-600 VH-VPJ as VOZ9946 ferried from Canberra to Nelson on July 11 for planned maintenance before returning to Canberra as VOZ9949 on August 2.

ATR 72-600 VH-FVN asVOZ9946 ferried from Canberra to Nelson on July 26 for planned maintenance with ANZ Regional.
TigerAir will add a fourth 737-8FE/W VH-VOR to their fleet in late August (see Virgin Australia above).

Regional Airline News

In this issue we report the delivery of a Saab 340B to Air Raratonga.

Air Chathams has painted their Convair 580F ZK-KFL into a very attractive one off livery which features the Chatham Islands mollymawk albatross. The nose and forward fuselage of the Convair features the head of the albatross while the tail features the tail feathers of the albatross.

Air Raratonga took delivery of Saab 340B N368CL msn 340B-368 at Raratonga on July 17 after it ferried in from Bangor, Lake Havasu City and Hilo. N368CL which was cancelled from the US register on July 18 later took up the Cook Islands registration of E5-SMW.

Air Vanuatu ATR 72-500 YJ-AV71 was damaged at Port Vila on July 28 when it left the runway after landing as flight NF239 from Tanna. However prior to stopping the ATR 72-500 badly damaged both Unity Airlines BN-2A-8 YJ-009 and Air Taxi BN-2A-27 YJ-AL2.

Air Vanuatu completed a major rebuild of DHC-6-300 YJ-AV11 on July 10 and returned the aircraft to service.

Fiji Link DHC-6-300 DQ-PSE which departed Nadi on May 25 on ferry to the United States (Traffic/July) was later registered N974SW to Aircraft Investments Providenciales on July 17.

ATR 72-600 DQ-FJY ferried from Nadi to Auckland and Nelson on August 7 for maintenance with ANZ Regional.

JetGo EMB-135KL VH-ZJG which has been parked at Brisbane since April 18 was towed to a hangar on July 18 for maintenance.

EMB-145LR VH-JGR ferried from Townsville to Cairns on July 13 while EMB-135LR VH-JGB ferried from Brisbane to Sydney on June 22.

MAF International Cessna 208FP N612MF msn 20800612 arrived at Oshkosh, Wisconsin on July 21 where it was placed on display during the EAA convention. When delivered to MAF the aircraft will initially be based in Indonesia.

Airvan 8 P2-MFM on July 18 ferried from Horn Island to Mareeba where on July 26 it was returned to the Australian register as VH-MAH.

Pelican Airlines Jetstream 32 VH-OAM which was purchased as a spare parts aircraft was noticed at Bankstown in late August after being reduced to produce.

Regional Airlines/REX took delivery of Saab 340B N423XJ on February 4 and registered the aircraft VH-ZXQ on February 19 (Traffic/March). Saab 340B VH-ZXQ entered service on July 13 when it operated ZL668 from Wagga Wagga to Sydney.

Unity Airlines has purchased the Great Barrier Airlines BN-2A-26 ZK-FVD and on August 6 the all-white Islander departed Auckland for Norfolk Island on the first stage of its ferry flight to Port Vila.

Bizjet News

In this issue we report the delivery of a Global 6000, a Westwind 11 and a Learjet 35A while departing was a Challenger 605.

Global 6000 N880X msn 9806 which was registered to TVPX Aircraft Solutions Inc, of North Salt Lake, Utah on June 29 was delivered to Pratt Holdings at Essendon on August 3 after the aircraft flew in from Teterboro and Honolulu. While the fuselage of the Global 6000 is all white the tail carries a logo stating ‘Pratt 100% recycled’

Westwind 11 N990S msn 322 which was registered to the CODA Superannuation Fund of Panama City, Florida on July 3 was later delivered to Helipro of Fiji. On August 2 the Westwind 11 visited Brisbane from Suva.

Learjet 35A C-GIWO msn 407 arrived at Nowra on August 8 from Cebu and Darwin so this suggests another delivery to Air Affairs.

Challenger 605 VH-LVH which was registered to Dulcie Ltd of Singapore was cancelled from the register on August 3 when sold in the US. The same day the Challenger 605 was registered N777KD to Joelle Jet of Duluth, Georgia.

Cessna 501 VH-FUM which was cancelled from the register on June 13 (Traffic/August) was later parted out at Essendon in late August before being placed in containers and moved from the airport.

Global Express VH-ICV and Global Express VH-OCV which are registered to Execujet Australia have departed the country with both aircraft noted parked at Tucson in early August. The USCAR shows the registration N93GX has been reserved for VH-ICV while N26GX has been reserved for VH-OCV.

Palmer Aviation Global Express M-ATAR was cancelled from the Isle of Man register on May 25 (Traffic/July) on its sale to FAI Rent-A-Jet as D-AUWE.

Learjet 60 VH-NPP changed its registered owner/operator on June 27 from Chiron Flight Services of Singapore to Astra Aerospace P/L and GoJet P/L of North Nowra. VH-NPP later arrived at Nowra from Seletar and Port Hedland on June 29.

Learjet 60 VH-AND which is registered to Gee Bee Jet of Singapore made a rare visit to Australia in this period when on July 17 it arrived in Sydney from Johor Bahru and Port Hedland as ‘Medic 78’ After overnighting VH-AND again as ‘Medic 78’ departed Sydney for Darwin and Seletar.

Citation Sovereign VH-EXQ which was operated by Mitchell Air of Essendon Fields has been sold and on July 30 it was registered to HeidelbergCement Asia P/L of Singapore and Seletar Jet Charter of Cammeray, NSW.

Citation Mustang ZK-VXM was registered to Skyline Aviation of Napier on July 17 and on that day was delivered to Napier from Rotorua.

Citation 111 VH-SSZ changed its registered holder/operator on June 27 from Rae’s Jet Charter of Moonee Ponds, Victoria/Business Aviation Solutions of Tugun, QLD to AAA Aircraft P/L of Mudjimba, QLD/Flight Options (Australia) P/L of Mudjimba, QLD

In Propjet News GFG Aviation Piaggio Avanti M-ETAL which arrived at Coffs Harbour from the UK on June 22 (Traffic/August) continues its stay in Australia and in the period July 27 to August 3 it was noted at airfields in Queensland, South Australia, NSW and the ACT.

King Air B300 VH-YZG and King Air B300 VH-YZJ which have recently been withdrawn from RAAF service (Traffic/August) were noted parked at the Hawker Pacific hangar at Cairns on August 4.

Textron Aviation Citation CJ-3+ N542CJ continued its demonstration tour of Australia and New Zealand in this period (Traffic/August). N542CJ arrived at Essendon from Wagga Wagga and Sydney on July 7 before it departed to Wellington on July 9. N542CJ later visited Napier, Auckland and Brisbane before departing Cairns for Biak and Clark Field on July 13.

Textron Aviation King Air 350i N828AJ msn FL-1105 which was on a demonstration tour of Australia arrived at Darwin from Denpasar on July 25 and after overnighting N828AJ to Brisbane. The King Air 350i was later noted at Wellcamp, Toowoomba, Sydney, Ceduna, Kalgoorlie, Perth, Jandakot, Broome and Kununurra before departing Darwin for Manado on August 3.

Ferry Flights

Photo Survey Cessna 310Q ZK-DEM crossed the Tasman on July 16/17 from Kerikeri, to Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, the Gold Coast and Redcliffe. On July 23 ZK-DEM departed Redcliffe on July 23 for Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, Kerikeri and Ardmore where it arrived on July 24.
Redcliffe Aero Club Cessna 310R VH-JTV departed Kerikeri for Norfolk Island on July 14 before continuing to the Gold Coast and Redcliffe on July 15.

Cirrus SR-22 VH-VGG msn 3933 departed Archerfield on July 29 on its Trans-Tasman ferry to Lord Howe Island and Kerikeri Cirrus SR-22 N998SR msn 4645 departed the Gold Coast on July 29 for Walgett and Aldinga before continuing the following day to Ceduna, Kalgoorlie and Jandakot.

Diamond DA-42 VH-DTS departed Port Macquarie for Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island on July 18 before continuing to Kerikeri, Ardmore and Hamilton. On July 26 the DA-42 was registered ZK-EAP to the Ardmore Flying School.

Dornier 328-100 VH-PPJ of AeroRescue which carries EASP Air titles was noted at the Farnborough Airshow in early July. Flight Tracker shows that VH-PPJ departed Darwin for Denpasar and Subang on May 16 before arriving at Farnborough from Oberfaffenhofen on July 10. VH-PPF returned to Oberfaffenhofen on July 20 prior to continuing to its base at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, Germany.

Dornier 328-100 VH-PPG which carries EASP Air titles (Traffic/August ‘17) also appears to be based at Braunschweig-Wolfsburg.

AeroRescue Dornier 328-100 VH-PPF, VH-PPQ and VH-PPV are currently parked at Darwin.

UTS Geophysics PAC 750XL VH-UTW which was last reported operating a local flight from Jandakot on June 8 was cancelled from the register on June 29 as exported to South Africa.

Pilatus PC-21s HB-HWS callsign ‘PCH52C’ and HB-HWT callsign ‘PCH52W’ were delivered to RAAF base East Sale on July 23 after completing their ferry flight from Stans via Kupang, Darwin, Alice Springs and Adelaide. The PC-21s both of which carried Roulettes markings were later allocated the RAAF serials A54-019 and A54-020.

United Arab Emirates Air Force A330-243(MRTT) as UAF1301 arrived in Canberra from Singapore on July 21 before departing the following day to Subang.

Ukraine Air Alliance Antonov An-12BP UR-CAK arrived in Sydney from Surabaya as UKL4073 on August 4 and the following day as UKL4074 departed to Apia. Flying time from Surabaya to Sydney was 8 hours 40 mins while Sydney to Apia was 7 hours 10 mins.

Air Atlanta Icelandic 747-4F6/BDSF TF-AMN as flight ‘ABD387’ arrived in Perth from Johannesburg and Mauritius on July 23. The aircraft which brought in a load of stage equipment and carries the colours of Magma Aviation departed Perth that evening for Kuala Lumpur as flight ABD381P. 747-4F6 TF-AMN is better known to many as ZK-SUJ which was operated by Air New Zealand between October ’98 and March ’11.

Crystal Luxury Air 777-29M(LR) P4-XTL as CXB772 arrived in Perth on July 17 after a 16.5 hour direct flight from London/Gatwick. The 777-29M(LR) which was carrying members of the Chelsea Football club to play an exhibition match against Perth Glory departed Perth in the early hours on July 24 on its return to London/Gatwick.

Omni Air International 777-2U8(ER) N819AX as OAE303 arrived Rockhampton from Guam on July 7 before departing the same day to Guam.

Omni Air International 777-2U8(ER) N846AX as OAE302 arrived in Rockhampton from Guam on July 6 before returning the same day to Guam.

Icelandair 757-27B TF-FIW as ‘Icelandair 1200’ which carried Captain’s Choice titles arrived in Sydney from Auckland on July 27. TF-FIW as ‘Icelandair 1202’ departed Sydney for Davao City on July 31.

Spectrem Air BT-67 ZS-ASN departed Alice Springs for Ayers Rock on August 5.

ZG Aviation EMB-135BJ/Legacy 600 N200KP arrived in Cairns from Subang and Darwin on July 17. The Legacy 600 was later noted at Sydney and the Gold Coast before departing Essendon for Darwin and Subang on August 3.
