Plant-based biofuels are ready to make their mark in aviation
For the moment, the price of fossil fuels remains at a relatively low level, however, the environmental cost continues to rise. It is an issue recognised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and airlines alike, driving ongoing research into ‘greener’ solutions and alternative power sources. At the forefront of the challenge is the emergence of ‘biofuels’, which are achieved through agricultural processes rather than the geological origins of existing aviation fuels.
