The biennial airshow that we know as the Avalon Air Show was held over the period of February 28 to March 5. This year there was more emphasis on heavy metal but that that did not prevent some 211,000 people attending. An all time record for Avalon. The weather was good, lots of sunshine, and good for aircraft photography. Patrons of the Air Shows Down Under event were disappointed that the JSF, the F-35, did not fly during the show. It was scheduled to fly and depart to Amberley on the Sunday afternoon but inclement weather at Amberley, Queensland, meant that the two aircraft would require holding fuel. The F-35 is a fuel hungry aircraft and with no tanker available the departure was held over until the Monday, the day after the patrons had departed.

For those with an interest in real aircraft there was still plenty to see.
