China’s airport security ‘light bulb’ moment

Given the state of the world over the past couple of decades you’d be forgiven for thinking the aviation industry globally had already done more than enough to intensify efforts to protect airlines and airports from the sort of violent attack by militant groups that have become only too common.

Obviously, the murderous events at Brussels Airport at Zaventem, just outside the Belgian capital, in March showed that wasn’t quite the case. But then, if you had 100 per cent security it would cost so much no-one could afford to travel.
