Inappropriate land use development proposals are being approved in areas around airports

Protection of the airspace around Australian airports is critical to their safe and efficient operation and capacity to grow to meet future demand for air travel. As our towns and cities across Australia continue to grow and expand, it is more important than ever that our planning schemes recognise the importance of airspace protection and airport safeguarding.

Back in May 2012 the Standing Council on Transport and Infrastructure (SCOTI, now known as the Transport and Infrastructure Council) agreed to the introduction of the National Airport Safeguarding Framework (NASF).
