Regional airports often battle for financing and resources

The AAA is acutely aware of the challenges faced by our regional and remote airport members, particularly in relation to securing adequate financial support and resourcing to ensure that aerodromes are able to continue servicing their local communities.

There are currently around 250 airports across Australia that receive regular public transport (RPT) services and many more smaller airfields and landing strips totalling somewhere in the vicinity of 2,000 across the country. While many of these are very small and for private use, there are over 400 significant civilian airports in Australia.
