The Airbus A350 long-range twin-engined airliner was formally launched by Airbus on October 6.

The aircraft will be initially developed in two versions, the 253-passenger A350-800 in a standard three-class configuration with a range up to 8,800nm and the larger A350-900 carrying up to 300 passengers in a similar layout over a 7,500nm range.
