Hong Kong looked the obvious choice when Qantas and China Eastern decided to embark on a joint-venture and establish a new airline.
The enterprise, Jetstar Hong Kong, would be located “in the heart of Asia and on the doorstep of mainland China”, Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said at the time of the launch in March 2012.
