Surveillance & Response
From the depths of the ocean to the blackness of space, Surveillance and Response Group is the ADF’s all-seeing eye
Spending a day in the life of this vital Force Element Group (FEG) Australian Aviation was able to see how its remarkably diverse range of capabilities enable it to conduct maritime warfare, air and space surveillance, battlespace management, ISR and EW.
It accomplishes these missions with a wide array of assets, from the AP-3C Orion and E-7 Wedgetail, to the Heron UAS, Jindalee OTHR and truck-deployable TPS-77 radars and Vigilare ground-based battlespace management system. Operating this equipment at airbases across the country and beyond, are SRG’s 2,300 highly trained personnel, presently under the command of AIRCDRE Chris Westwood.
