CASA should focus on cost-cutting before cost recovery

CASA’s latest discussion paper suggests slugging industry for the hopeless inefficiency and over-prescription that is Part 61, but there is no accompanying process to cut CASA costs or improve efficiency.

Despite the Forsyth review and the positive government and industry response, the government’s commitment to cutting red tape, neutral cost impact of regulations and various changes to the CASA Board and management, CASA seems to have a tin ear when it comes to being responsible for its own costs.
