Virgin posts second quarter net profit

A $48 million improvement suggests better times are ahead for Australia’s second airline

Virgin Australia returned to profit in the second quarter of 2014/15, posting an underlying profit before tax of $55. 3 million amid lower fuel prices and some improvement in its core domestic market.

The company said on February 6 its second quarter underlying profit before tax – which the airline regarded as the best indicator of its financial performance – was a $47. 6 million improvement from the prior corresponding period.
