Register Review
Three new types are shown in the New Allocations this issue, two variations on an older model and one completely new design.
Michael Leembuis’s Sling 2 MLM is the first of its type on the CASA register although there are two already on the RA‑Aus register, one operated in a pilot training role by Go-Fly Aviation at Caloundra, Queensland. Built in South Africa by The Airplane Factory at Tedderfield Airpark in Johannesburg but marketed locally by Global Aviation Products, the Sling 2 is a sleek looking, all-metal, low-wing, sport and touring aircraft with a tricycle composite undercarriage. A semi-monocoque construction is used with riveted stressed aluminium skin and the aircraft is produced as a kit or finished complete from the factory. The standard powerplant is the popular 100hp (75kW) Rotax 912 ULS four-cylinder, four-stoke, 1352cc engine driving a Whirlwind three-blade propeller.
