Maintaining your flight skills

In flight training a pilot gradually acquires a set of skills that allows him or her to be able to fly an aircraft. Passing a flight test is the usual mark of saying that a pilot has taken on board those skills to be used at a later time.

But what happens if those skills are not used in the short or long term? The usual result is that those skills decline. And that can happen to any pilot no matter the qualification, from the GFPT to the ATPL.
