Skytrans grows with the Dash 8-300
Cairns based regional airline Skytrans has set its sights on fleet expansion, with the recent acquisition of two Bombardier Dash 8-300s aimed at servicing both the fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) and ad hoc charter markets.
For several years, the carrier has placed great faith in the Dash 8 to service remote communities across regional Queensland and cater for the mining and resources sector. As a result, the introduction of the larger 50-seat capacity Dash 8-300 into Skytrans will augment the airline’s existing fleet of 11 Dash 8-100s, split across the airline’s four main bases in Cairns, Darwin, Brisbane, and Perth, as well as an air cruising operation out of Sydney. Indeed, a step up to the -300 seems a natural progression for the charter and RPT focused airline, according to Skytrans owner and managing director Simon Wild.
