The move of Qantas to buy into the Fly-in / Fly-out market in Western Australia is long overdue but poses more questions about the airline’s longer term strategy in the WA market.

If it paid the reported $30 million for Network Aviation the entry fee is high for a market it should have entered 20 years ago for virtually no cost.
The airline’s first foray into regional WA was in the 1990s with QantasLink though the association with National Jet Systems’s – now Cobham – two BAe146 aircraft a fleet that was built up to 11 both in QantasLink and NJS colours.
