Making GA airports safer?

Major changes are expected in April when CASA moves to implement Class D airspace procedures as a replacement for the interim General Aviation Aerodrome Procedures (GAAP) it quickly introduced on July 21 2009.

The changes, which affect the main general aviation airports around the capital cities (Jandakot, Parafield, Bankstown, Camden, Archerfield and Moorabbin), came after a review conducted by the Ambidji Group into GAAP, which was released publicly on July 15 2009. That review was sparked by a major increase in mid-air incidents at GAAP aerodromes between 2000 and 2009, tragically resulting in 22 fatalities.
