Boeing Buys Vought 787 Business
Following Recent Speculation, Boeing Announced on July 7 That It Had Reached Agreement With Vought Aircraft Industries to Acquire Its North Charelston, South Carolina Production Facilities Which Produce the Rear Sections of the Boeing 787.
“integrating This Facility and Its Talented Employees Into Boeing Will Strengthen the 787 Program by Enabling Us to Accelerate Productivity and Efficiency Improvements as We Move Toward Production Ramp-up,” Said Scott Carson, President and Ceo of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “in Addition, It Will Bolster Our Capability to Develop and Produce Large Composite Structures That Will Contribute to the Advancement of This Critical Technology. ” Boeing Will Pay Approximately Us$580m (a$m) to Acquire the Facility, and Will Be Managed by the 787 Program Team. Vought Will Continue to Be a Major Boeing Supplier on Other Aircraft Programs Such as the 737, 777, C-17 and V-22.
