Museum and airfield battles.

The re-elected Queensland government has still done nothing about the futures of the Queensland Air Museum, co -sited Caloundra airport or the problem Caboolture will face. The museum continues to grow and acquire exhibits and activity at the two airfields grows despite the recession. The many people involved deserve a better go.

In northern NSW at Evans Head an aerospace industrial estate, an airpark residential area and air museum are planned, hoping to display yet another F111 and preserve the last heritage listed WW11 hangar. Two new South East Queensland museums are planned, one at old Brisbane Airport in historic Hangar 7 where captured WW11 Japanese wrecks were cleverly rebuilt as complete aircraft for evaluation, and one in early operation at Beaudesert near the Gold Coast, to also use an igloo hangar. Brisbane hopes to get an F111, Beaudesert a B-25 and B-17 and hopefully fragmentation won’t dilute outcomes. Many years back then Premier Sir Joh Bjelke Peterson, an aviation enthusiast, promoted a national transport museum on government land mid way between the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
