On August 9 1999 launch customer Skyways Airlines of Milwaukee took delivery of two Fairchild Dornier 328JETS at San Antonio, Texas to inaugurate the type’s entry into service. Orders and options for the 328JET have reached 162.

The maiden flight in the UK of the first WAH-64 Apache Longbow for the British Army, ZJ168/WAH-3 ex N3123T, was made by GKN Westland which re-flew the helicopter from Yeovil on August 26. This Apache was the first US-built example delivered on May 27 to RNAS Yeovilton on board HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Short Belfast G-BEPS on a flight from Phoenix, Arizona and delivered to GKN Westland Helicopters’ Yeovil factory the following day for final assembly and test flying. The first eight examples are built by Boeing at their Mesa, Arizona facility before shipment to GKN Westland.
