At just 42 years of age, new Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has been the airline’s rising star – two decades in the making.

Despite his comparative youth, Joyce is a 20 year airline industry veteran, and while he rose to prominence launching and running Jetstar, before that he worked within Qantas itself, Ansett in the late 1990s, and started his career at Aer Lingus, the flag carrier of his native Ireland.
