New Spitfire for Australia

Following in the Footsteps of His Famous Father Ross Pay is to Take Delivery of a Mk.ix Spitfire at the End of April. The New Spitfire, Formerly Mh-603, Was Previously Owned by Provenance Fighter Sales of French Valley, California Usa, and is Partly Completed. The Fuselage is Completely Finished and the Aircraft Comes Complete With a New Wing Kit and a Merlin 70 Engine. The Wing Skins, Flaps and Radiators Will Be Manufactured in England. Ross Pay is the Son of Legendary Warbird Pilot the Late Col Pay Who Previously Owned Vh-het / Mv-239, Now With the Temora Aviation Museum. The Mark Ix Spitfire Was Manufactured at Castle Bromwich in 1943 and Served First With the Raf and Then With No.331 (Norwegian) Squadron in the Uk. In 1949 It Was Shipped to South Africa Where It Served With the South African Air Force Before Being Struck Off Charge in the 1950s. It Was Then Sold for Scrap.

Obtained by Steven Atkins It Was Later Sold to John Sykes of Oxford, Uk, Who Sold It to Dr Joe Scogna of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Who Intended Restoring It to Flying Condition. The Project Was Moved to Q.g. Aviation at Fort Collins, Colorado. There the Fuselage Was Rebuilt. The Merlin 70 Engine Was Overhauled by Jack Hovey and a Four Bladed Hoffman Propeller Obtained. In April 2008 the Project Was Purchased by Provenance Fighter Sales and More Recently Sold to Ross Pay.
