• The prototype Raytheon Premier I business jet, N390RA, made its first flight on December 22 from Beech Field, Wichita, Kansas. With accommodation for up to six passengers, the Premier I is powered by two 2300lb Williams FJ44-2A turbofans. Deposits have been taken for more than 140.

• The first production example of the European Helicopter Industries EH 101 Merlin HC. 3 version for the RAF, ZJ117, had its maiden flight on December 24 from GKN Westland’s Yeovil airfield.
