Paul Keating once famously remarked as he was facing election defeat in the 1996 election campaign that “if you change the government, you change the country”. Perhaps we should adopt that expression for the corporate world, where “if you change the CEO you change the company”.
Just days after this issue goes on sale Alan Joyce will formally assume the role of CEO of Qantas, replacing the long serving Geoff Dixon. But it seems change at Qantas hasn’t waited for the official handover CEO planned for the Qantas AGM in Brisbane on November 28.
