More Delays For Wedgetail

The RAAF’s full Wedgetail AEW&C capability is a further four to 10 months away after Defence officials and prime contractor Boeing confirmed delays to the Air 5077 program.

The RAAF will not now receive its first two of six 737‑700 based Wedgetails for training use until July 2009. Further, the first fully operational aircraft will now be delivered in January 2010, rather than March 2009 as announced nearly two years ago, or some 38 months later than the original contracted delivery of November 2006.
