New Eyes For The Super Hornet

Lockheed Martin is developing an Infra-Red Search and Track (IRST) system to integrate with the US Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornets.
The Super Hornet Block II already features one of the world’s most advanced radars in the APG-79 active electronically scanned array (AESA), but there will be tactical situations where the aircraft will want to operate passively in contested airspace without using the radar.
