This Month’s New Allocations Listing Covers a Wide Variety of Types From Virgin Blue’s Embraer E-190s to Kit Built Sporting Aircraft and Several Older Training Aircraft Imported From the Us.

Not All Australian Flying Schools Have Embraced Modern Composite Trainers and as a Result There is Still a Market for Good Condition, Reliable Cessna and Piper Aircraft to Fill the Need for Rugged Metal Types. Ian Aviation at Archerfield Has Recognised This and Has Recently Imported Three 1978/1979 Cessna 152s, Aqf, Bsf and Byq.

The Three Aircraft, Along With a Fourth Not Yet Registered, Arrived in a Container During March and Have Been Fully Checked and Assembled Ready for Onward Sale. Aircraft Sales Centre at Moorabbin Has Also Imported a 1985 Warrior Ii, Ibj, for the Local Training Market.

Peter Disher’s Lightning is the First of Its Type on the Casa Register, Although There Are Two on the Ra‑aus Register With One of These Flying and One Still Under Construction. Peter is Putting the Final Touches to His Aircraft, Pdi, and After the Upholstery and Electrics Are Completed He Hopes to Attach the Wings and Have It Flying Within a Couple of Months. The Lightning is an All Composite, Low Wing, Fixed Undercarriage, Kit Built Aircraft With Two Side-by-side Seats and Peter Has Fitted the Trusty Jabiru Six Cylinder 3300 Engine to His Aircraft.

The Second ‘first of Type’ is Gary Collins’ Sg Aviation Storm 400, Tmi.

Sg Aviation Produces a Series of Kit and Fly-away Sport Aircraft at Its Toronto, Canada, Factory Including the Two and Four Seat Sea Storm Amphibian, the Two-seat, High Wing Rally 105 Ultralight and Six Separate Versions of the Storm Sport and Touring Aircraft. The Storm is a Low Wing, All Metal Aircraft and is Available in a Mixture of Two or Four Seats, Kit or Fly-away, Tricycle or Tail Wheel Undercarriage and With a Variety of Engine Options.

Gary Collins’s Storm 400 is a 2+2 Version Allowing for Two Adults in the Front Seats and Two Children or Small Adults in the Rear, and Can Be Fitted With a Power Plant From 100 to 160hp (82 to 119kw).

Helmut Kley’s Foxcon Terrier 200 Omi Was Built During 2006 but Has Recently Been Transferred From the Ra-aus to the Casa Register. Foxcon Was Established in 1995 at Mackay, Queensland, and Has Since Built Over 100 Terrier 100 and 200 Kits. Most Have Been Sold in Australia and New Zealand, but a Few Have Found Their Way to Other Countries and Have Proved Very Popular With Their Owners.

The Terrier is a Strut Braced High Wing, Touring Aircraft Featuring a Tricycle Undercarriage With a Free Casting Nose Wheel, Two Seats and Flaps. It is Usually Fitted With a Converted 100hp (75kw) Subaru Ea81 Engine, Although Other Engine Options Are Available. The Aircraft is Made of Vacuum Moulded Composite Material in a Sandwich Construction, Making a Very Strong but Light Fuselage, Wing and Empennage Combination.

The Terrier Also Comes in a Camper Configuration With a Bench Seat That Folds Down Into a Double Bed.

The Standard Model Can Be Easily Converted to the 200c Camper Model. The Only Aircraft Returning to the Register This Issue is Rutan Varieze Ezx Which Has Been Off the Register Since May 2002. The Varieze Was Built by Clive Winter-irving of Armidale, Nsw, and Was Completed and First Registered During 1986. Ownership Passed to John Winter-irving During 1992 and It Was Sold 10 Years Later. The New Owner Did Not Advise Casa of the Ownership Change Details So It Cancelled the Registration on May 24 2002. George Martin of Eaglehawk, Victoria, Has Now Put the Aircraft Back on the Register After a Six Year Delay.

Around One Third of the Deletions This Month Are the Result of Exports, Including Gippsland Airvan Aqf Which Has Gone to the Dominican Republic. Of the 121 Airvans Completed So Far Almost 85 Have Been Exported, With the Dominican Republic Becoming the 21st Different Country to Receive the Type.

Agusta Koalas Rps and Rpw, Previously Operated by Heli Air in Adelaide and Used for Fire Bombing, Have Been Sold to Fumigacion Aerea Andaluza Sa (Faasa) of Cordoba, Spain. Faasa Operate a Large Fleet of Helicopters and Fixed Wing Aircraft Specialising in Fire Fighting on the Iberian Peninsula and in South America. The Company Has Recently Ordered Six Brand New Agusta Westland Aw119kes, With a Further Two Options, and the Two Australian Machines Will Be Used to Supplement the Fleet Until the New Aircraft Are Delivered.

The Two Koalas Were Loaded Into Containers in Early April for Shipment to Spain Where They Will Be Re-assembled at Faasas Private Airstrip at Palma Del Rio and Fitted With Either the Simplex Model 323 Fire Attack System or a Conventional Bambi Bucket Ready for the Spanish/portugese Fire Season Starting in June.

Four More Hughes and Kawasaki Hughes 500cs From the Helicopter Aerial Surveys Fleet – Bsq, Thg, Thq and Thz – Have Been Exported to the Philippines Joining Ndc, Thj, Thu and Thx Noted in the April Issue. The Severely Depleted Helicopter Aerial Survey Fleet Based at Bankstown Now Consists of Only Four Kawasaki Hughes 500c Bsq is Now in the Philippines. (Tony Arbon) Aircraft – Kfz, Mbm, Mhq and Wlm.

Israel Aerospace Industries Heron Uav, Brp, Has Returned to Israel and It Has Been Replaced by Another, Bjj, Shown in the New Allocations Section.

Agusta A109e Power Npx is the Last of Three Agusta Powers to Be Transferred to Military Markings Following Its Delivery to the Ran for the Retention and Motivation Initiative Project.

As Usual, Re-registrations Account for Over One-third of the Listed Deletions and Include the Department for Environment and Heritage’s Cessna U206g Stationair, Obd, Which Has Become Obp to Allow Obd to Be Used on Its Brand New 206h.

The First of Six Surveillance Australia Islanders That Have Been Bought Back by the Manufacturer, Britten-norman, for Re-sale Has Been Changed From Zzy to Wzp. The Aircraft Has Been Sold to Lip-air at Cairns and Has Been Re-registered in Line With Many Other Aircraft in the Lip-air Fleet.

Some Interesting Aircraft Movements Amongst Third Level and Charter Operators Are Noted in the Changes of Owner or Operator Section This Issue, With Airlines of Tasmania Adding Another Islander, Cwg, to Its Mixed Fleet of Mainly Twins Based at Hobart, and Air South in Adelaide Adding Four Cessna Titans to Its Fleet. The Addition of Four Titans, Ent, Skc, Szp and Tmp, to the Air South Inventory Has Almost Doubled the Number of Aircraft Operated by Air South, Which Previously Consisted of Three Bandeirantes, a Baron and a Cessna 172.

Kakadu Air is Gradually Replacing Its Elderly Cessna 207 Super Stationairs With New Gippsland Airvans and the Latest Delivery, Kne, Means That There Are Now Four of the Type in Its Fleet.

Other Airvan News is That the Type Has Recently Been Demonstrated to Ayers Rock Scenic Flights as a Possible Replacement for Its Two Partenavias – Both of Which Are Noted as Being Transferred From the Parent Company, General Flying Services, to Ayers Rock Scenic Flights.

A Recent Survey of the Png Register Has Revealed Some Subsequent Markings of Six Aircraft Noted in This Column During 2006. Bell Longrangers Bjx and Hhs and Bell 412ep Hqq Are All Flying With Hevilift at Mount Hagen Marked as P2-hca, P2-hcb and P2-hcs Respectively, While Twin Otter Ipd and Dash 8 Tnw Are Now Active as P2-mcc and P2-mcq With Airlines of Png at Port Moresby.

Cessna T207a Turbo Stationair Kax, a Type That is Ideally Suited to Png Operations, is Now P2-bwl With Wanako at Mount Hagen.

Finally, in a Superb Piece of Research, David Eyre From Western Australia Has Found Out That Beech Musketeer Dyv, Which Was Shown in the April 2004 Deletions, Has Become Yu-dnh in Yugoslavia. The Aircraft Has Recently Been Offered for Sale by Its Present Owner Marko Tomic of Vavijevo, and the Accompanying Photo Shows the Musketeer in a Gaudy Bright Yellow and Blue Colour Scheme.
