Jetstar Pacific
Jetstar’s Vietnamese bridgehead into Asia
Jetstar’s launch of its Jetstar Pacific Vietnamese partner has accelerated the Australian low cost carrier’s efforts to firmly entrench itself in Asia in what is emerging as the great race against Tiger and AirAsia for low fares leadership in the world’s most populous region.
The current and potential size of the Asian market for low cost travel is enormous, and Jetstar Pacific represents the Qantas subsidiary’s most significant effort yet to establish itself in Asia before too many other players enter the battle, and to grasp what CEO Alan Joyce describes as the “first mover” advantage in being one of the first pan Asian LCCs.
