China’s rapid economic development is driving the bulk of travel demand in the Asia-Pacific region.
The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast estimates 6. 6 per cent annual growth in revenue passenger kilometres in the Pacific over the next five years, with much of the new growth coming from the Chinese leisure traffic market, which is estimated to grow at 10. 8 per cent. Both Airbus and Boeing see the bulk of this growth coming from internal and regional flying within China.
