Air New Zealand Link/air Nelson Was Planning to Take Delivery of Dash 8-q311 Zk-neu at Nelson on September 12.

Saab 340a Zk-nlq, Which Was Withdrawn From Service on May 14, Has Been Sold to Aviation Inventory Resources of Dallas, Texas, and on July 30 It Departed Nelson for Apia on the First Leg of Its Delivery Flight. The Final Air New Zealand Link/air Nelson Saab Service Was Planned to Operate on September 24 From Nelson to Wellington and Return.

Air Niugini Terminated Its Lease on 767-319er P2-ang on August 28 After the Aircraft Operated Flight Px8 From Port Moresby to Manila and Hong Kong. To Replace P2-ang in Service Air Niugini Has Reportedly Leased 767-33aer V8-rbg From Royal Brunei, but Until This Aircraft is Avail-able, Air Niugini Has Leased 767-33eer B-maw From Viva Macau.

P2-ang Has Been Part of the Airline Scene in New Zealand and Png Since Being Delivered to Air New Zealand as Zk-nce on June 17 ’91. Air New Zealand Oper-ated It Until May ’02 With the Aircraft Then Being Leased to Air Niugini Who Placed It in Service on August 16 ’02.

Air Niugini Has Termi-nated Its Lease on Dash 8-202 P2-any With the Aircraft Being Placed on the Australian Register as Vh-aff on August 9.

Air Pacific Leased 767-338er Vh-ogb From Qantas to Cover Planned Maintenance on Its 767-3x2er, Dq-fjc. On July 22 Dq-fjc Operated Flight Fj921 From Nadi to Brisbane Where It Then en-tered the Qantas Maintenance Hangar. Vh-ogb, Which Car-ried Small Titles ‘operated on Behalf of Air Pacific’, Entered Service With Air Pacific on July 22 When It Operated Flight Fj920 From Brisbane to Nadi. Air Pacific Terminated Its Lease on Vh-ogb on August 19 After the Aircraft Operated Flight Fj921 From Nadi to Brisbane.

Alliance Airlines Took De-livery of Fokker 100 N894us at Brisbane on August 10 After the Aircraft Arrived From Biak and Townsville From the United States. The Ferry Flight, Which Used the Callsign ‘southern Cross 426’, Was Contracted to Southern Cross Aviation of Camarillo, California. The Fokker 100 Was Later Registered Vh-fkk to Alliance Airlines on August 16.

Alliance Took Delivery of a Third Fokker 50, Vh-fkx, at Melbourne/essendon on August 12 After the Ex Mandarin Airlines Aircraft Completed Its Ferry Flight From Taiwan (Using the Callsign ‘southern Cross 715’). General Aviation Maintenance Painted the Fokker in Alliance Colours Before It Ferried to Brisbane on August 27.

Alliance Placed Its Second Fokker 50, Vh-fky, Into Rpt Service on July 17 When the Aircraft Operated Dj5907 From Adelaide to Olympic Dam.

Ansett Bae 146-300 Zk-nzl, Which Had Been Parked at Melbourne Since Ferrying in From Christchurch on December 21 ’01, Was Scrapped at Melbourne on August 8. The 146 Was Originally Built on Order for East-west Airlines as Vh-ewk and Was Delivered to Tamworth on October 4 ’90.

Pacific Blue Announced on August 23 That Effec-tive November 15 It Will Commence New Zealand Domestic Services Connecting Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. To Operate These Services Three 737-8fes Will Be Transferred From the Virgin Blue Fleet, Reported to Be Vh-vub, Vh-vud and Vh-vuh.

Pacific Blue Changed Its Iata Code From Pbi to Pbn Effective August 1.

Solomon Airlines Terminated Its Lease on the Skyairworld E-170-100lr Vh-swo in Early August and Since Then Solomon Has Been Leasing Either a 737-300 From Our Airline or a 737- 200 From Ozjet to Operate Its Services. Solomon Airlines Had Only Commenced Opera-tions With the Skyairworld Embraer on May 20.

Toll Holdings Took De-livery of 737-3b7f N519au at Auckland on August 27 After the Aircraft Completed Its Delivery Flight From Miami via Long Beach, Honolulu and Pago Pago. The 737 Freighter, Which Will Be Operated by Airwork (Nz), Was Later Registered Zk-tlc. It Was First Delivered to Us Airways in 1988.

Toll is Also Reported to Be Planning to Take Delivery of 737-3b7 N520au Later This Year. Like Its Sistership, N520au Was Previously Operated by Us Airways. It is Currently Being Converted to Freighter Configuration at Miami.

Toll’s First Atr Freighter Service Was Operated on July 31 When Jetcraft Operated Atr 42-320f Vh-toq Departed Adelaide for Sydney Before Continuing to Melbourne and Then Back to Adelaide.

Virgin Blue Took Delivery of 737-8fe Vh-vuk Mackay-be Diva at Brisbane on August 19 After the Aircraft Completed Its Trans-pacific Ferry Flight From Seattle via Lihue and Nadi. Vh-vuk Entered Service With Virgin Blue on August 24 When It Operated Flight Dj222 From Brisbane to Sydney.

737-8fe Vh-vul Ballina-rina Blue Was Delivered to Virgin Blue in Christchurch on August 26 After It Ferried in From Seattle via Lihue and Nadi. Vh-vul Was Initially Ferried to Christchurch to Be Modified to Accept Live2air Tv Signals.

737-8fes Vh-vuk and Vh-vul Are the First Two of 14 737-8fe’s Which Virgin Blue Currently Have on Order From Boeing for Delivery Thru August 2011. Virgin Blue Will Also Take Delivery of Leased 737-8bks Vh-vum and Vh-vun in October and November of This Year. Virgin Blue Also Took Delivery of Its First E-170-100, Vh-zha Belle-issimo Blue, at Brisbane on September 11.

Update in This Issue We Report the Delivery of Jetstar’s Sixth and Last A330-202.

Qantas 747-338 Vh-ebx Was Damaged on the Ground at Melbourne on July 24. Temporary Repair Work Allowed It to Be Ferried to Avalon on July 28 for Further Repairs. On August 22 It Ferried to Sydney as Flight Qf6192 Before Returning to Service With Qantas the Following Day.

747-338 Vh-ebu Nalanji Dreaming Which is Stored at Avalon Was Noted There in Late August to Have Lost Its Special ‘nalanji Dreaming’ Colour Scheme Along With Its Qantas Markings. The 747 Now Has Had Its Fuselage Painted All Over Blue While the Tail is Now All Over Red.

As Detailed in the ‘airline News’ Section, 767-338er Vh-ogb Was Leased to Air Pacific From July 22 to August 19 to Cover Planned Mainte-nance on Air Pacific’s 767.

767-338er Vh-ogd Was the First Aircraft to Be Repainted in Qantas’s Revised Colour Scheme. After Being Painted by Tae at Richmond It Was Ferried to Sydney Late on July 23 and Was Shown to the Media the Following Day (See Report in September Aa for Details).

Qantaslink 717-231 Vh-nxo, Which Was Previously Registered Vh-yqj, Was Ferried From Adelaide to Richmond on July 23 for Repainting by Tae From Its Jetstar to the New Qantas Livery. It Then Ferried Back to Adelaide on August 4 Before Being Delivered to Qantaslink in Perth as Flight Qf6200 on August 23. Vh-nxo Entered Service With Qantaslink on August 25 When It Operated Flight Qf1810 From Perth to Port Hedland.

717-2bd Vh-nxf Was Withdrawn From Qantaslink Service on August 25 After It Operated Flight Qf1895 From Kalgoorlie to Perth. The Following Day Vh-nxf Was Ferried to Adelaide as Flight Qf6200 Where It Was Parked in Company With 717-200s Vh-nxb and Vh-nxc.

Jetstar Took Delivery of A330-202 Vh-ebf at Melbourne in the Early Hours of August 26 After It Ferried in Direct From Toulouse as Flight Jq7990. Flight Time for the Trip Was Quoted as 19 Hours 39 Minutes.

Jetstar Replaced Qantas on the Cairns to Nagoya Route Effective August 2 With A330-202 Vh-ebe Operating the Inaugural Jq63.

Brindabella Airlines Has Announced That It Will Take Delivery of Two Jetstream 41 Aircraft From the United States With the Aircraft Planned to Enter Service in October ’07 and February ’08.

Jetcraft Aviation Took Delivery of Atr 42-320 Vh-tox at Brisbane/ Archerfield on August 6. The Atr Was Ferried From Edinburgh to Shannon on July 25 and There It Was Painted in Basic Toll Colours Before Departing Shannon for Malta on August 2 on the First Leg of Its Delivery Flight to Australia. Vh-tox Was a 1986 Production Aircraft (Msn 024) Which Was Delivered to Cimber Air in Denmark in November of That Year as Oy-cic. Prior to Its Sale to Jetcraft the Atr Was Operated by Air Contractors as Ei-sle.

Origin Pacific Jetstream 41 Zk-jse, Which Was Later Registered N146km to Northstar Aviation of Boca Raton, Florida, Was Planned to Depart Wellington for Sydney on August 18 on Delivery to an Operator in Africa. However, at Time of Writing the Jetstream Was Still Parked at Wellington.

Pionair Adventures Convair 580 Zk-pal, Which Has Been Operat-ing in Australia Since May 3, Departed Brisbane for Palmerston North on July 28 Polynesian Airlines Planned to Terminate Its Lease on Dash 8-102 5w-faa on September 11 With the Aircraft to Be Returned to Airlines Png. Polynesian is Expected to Add a Dhc-6-300 to Its Fleet to Replace the Dash 8.

Regional Express Took Delivery of Saab 340b+ N374ae at Wagga Wagga on August 5 After the Aircraft Completed Its Ferry Flight From Nashville, Tennessee by Wade Aviation of Spring Hill, Nsw. It Routed via Yuma, Christmas Island, Apia, Coolangatta and Orange. The Saab Was Later Registered Vh-zlf.

Gulfstream Iv/sp N123lc, Which Was Later Registered Vh-osw, Was Delivered to Avwest in Perth on August 6 After It Flew in From Monterey via Hilo, Pago Pago and Sydney.

Challenger 604 N322bx Was Delivered to Aussie Vineyards in Coolangatta on July 31 After It Flew in From Nadi. To Be Re-registered N604au, It Has Had Its Tail Painted in an Attractive Scheme Featuring Kangaroos.

Learjet 45 Vh-vvi, Which Was Operated by Agg Learjet P/l of Helensvale, Queensland and Has Been Re-placed by the Challenger 604 N322bx, Was Cancelled From the Register on August 22. The Same Day It Was Placed on the Us Register as N45au With the Wells Fargo Bank of Salt Lake City.

Hawker 850xp Vh-ram, Which is a New Build Aircraft, Was Registered to Ramsay Air Charter of Greenwich, Nsw, on August 17. On August 22 the Hawker Was Delivered to Its Sydney Base via Kona, Apia and Port Vila.

Citation Iii Vh-sbu Was Registered to Orkdale P/l of Oxenford, Queensland, on August 9, Before Being Delivered From Port Moresby to Coolangatta on August 11.

The Citation is a 1986 Pro-duction Aircraft Which Was Last Registered in the United States as N106st to Rnj Holdings of Lakeland, Florida.

Learjet 36a N950g Was Delivered to the Jet City Hangar in Melbourne on August 10 After It Flew in From Pago Pago and Norfolk Island. The Learjet, Which Was Registered to International Auto Brokers of Paradise Valley, Arizona, Was Cancelled From the Us Register on August 13. However, at the Time of Writing It Had Still Not Been Placed on the Australian Register.

Cessna 510 Mustang N2243w, Which Was Import-ed Into Australia by Aeromil Pacific on July 15 (See Pic in ‘newsdesk’, Sept Aa), Has Reportedly Been Sold in New Zealand.

At Milwaukee/general Mitchell Field, Air Cargo Carriers Was Preparing Shorts 360-300 N764jr, the Former Vh-suf, for Operation in Iraq, While Under Main-tenance in Its Hangar Was Shorts 360-100 N367ac Ex Vh-mvw. Air Cargo Carriers Also Operates Shorts 360-200 N368ac Ex Vh-bwo Which is Operating on Contract to Ups, as Was Shorts 360-300 N136lr Ex Vh-sul. Shorts 360-200 N334ac Ex Vh-lsi Was Based in Warsaw, Indiana Where It Was Working for Ups.
