The closing of 85 Queensland councils through forced amalgamation might variously affect 10 aerodromes along the booming coast, but perhaps not so much in the more sparsely populated inland where it was feared.
Redcliffe council aerodrome, just 9nm northwest of Brisbane’s 19R threshold is now landlocked and partly surrounded by houses, causing onerous flight restrictions. It had been considering either expanding to a dual runway small airliner field (much like Archerfield), or just maintaining the status quo.
