Boeing Has Secured Its Long Awaited First Order for the 747-8 Intercontinental After Securing a Us$5. 5bn (a$7. 0bn) Order From A380 Customer Lufthansa.
The Purchase Comprises of 20 Firm Orders and 20 Options. While Lufthansa is the First Airline to Commit to the 747-8i, Emirates, Cathay Pacific and British Airways Are Also Rumoured to Be Interested in the Aircraft. Four 747-8is Have Also Been or-dered by Boeing Business Jets as Vip Aircraft. By Contrast, the 747-8f Freighter Has Been Selling Strongly, With Orders for 49 Aircraft From Atlas Air, Ups, Emirates Skycargo and Guggenheim Aviation Partners.
