The Royal Malaysian Air Force operated a number of ex-RMAF CAC Sabres through the 1970s, some of which still survive. Looking rather weathered is FM-1904 outside the RMAF Museum on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

Raaf Winjeels Sold
Saturday October 28 saw the sale by auction of the remaining four flying RAAF Winjeels. Auctioned by GamersAuctions Australia of Wallsend, NSW, at RAAF Base Williamtown, on behalf of Aussales, the sales division of the Department of Administrative Services, the aircraft were serial numbers A85-411, -415, -426 and -443. While the successful bidders are unknown at this stage it has been reported that the four machines were purchased for $60,000, $61,000, $68,000 and $76,000. Without doubt the four Winjeels will eventually turn up on the civil register to join the others of the type already being flown as warbirds.
New Mustang Registration
Readers with a keen eye for detail will have noticed the listing of CAC CA-18 Mk.23 Mustang, VH-SVU, in the civil aircraft registrations in the November issue of AA. Owned by the RAAF Museum at Point Cook the machine was registered on 28/8/95. This aircraft is RAAF serial A68-170 and has long been at Point Cook having come from the RAAF stores depot at Toowoomba, Queensland, in the late 1960’s. Restored to at least taxi condition in the early 1970s the fighter moved under its own steam more than once with the name ‘Duffy’s Delight’ on the nose. Now it looks as if the RAAF Museum will have a new addition to its historic flight for display in the near future.
