Aircraft Accident & Incident Safety Course

Australian Aviation Safety Management and the Griffith University of Queensland are conducting their second aircraft accident/incident course in Brisbane next February. The course will cover crash dynamics, human factors, investigation techniques, forensic pathology, system safety, aerodynamics and structures, aviation law and interview techniques. It will also look at a number of case studies and feature practical exercises. The course runs from January 29 to February 16 and costs $3900, included in which is all notes, handouts, materials, morning and afternoon teas and a graduation lunch. Auckland For $299

Furniture and electrical retailer Harvey Norman and Travel Solutions have leased Kiwi Travel International’s 727 for a series of low cost charter flights between Sydney and Auckland and provide additional revenue earning utilisation for the new carrier. The six charters depart Sydney on a Friday morning and return on the following Sunday. A condition of the $299 per person return ticket is that travellers had to return to Sydney the Sunday following their departure. The charters do not feature any inflight service and there is no seat allocation. Aside from a $75 amendment fee and no refund of cancellations, the tickets had no other special conditions. The first charter left Sydney on October 20, returning on the 22nd, while the last charter was due to depart Sydney on November 24. A full report on Kiwi appears on p24.
