Dassault's Falcon 2000 made its maiden flight from Bordeaux on March 4 this year. During the one-and-a-quarter-hour test flight all systems were satisfactorily checked, including the autopilot. The Falcon 2000, which is built in cooperation with A/enia, is designed as a mid to large size intercontinental bizjet, capable of flying sectors up to 3000nm (5560km) in length with eight passengers at Mach 0.8

MDC, Airbus Predict Growth:

Rival airliner manufacturers McDonnell Douglas and Airbus Industrie have both published market forecasts covering the next20 years and have come up with similar overall figures but different details.

MDC predicts a total requirement for 14,072 new airliners over the period valued at more than $US1000bn. Of these, widebodies are expected to contribute 7198 or 51% of the total, while the North American market will absorb 5200 units (37%), airlines in the Asia Pacific region 3994 (28%) and Europe 3300 (20%). Of the Asia Pacific total, it is predicted that 2900 will be widebodies.
