Parliamentary Committee Slams DOD
The Parliamentary Defence Sub-Committee late last year released a scathing report on the efficiencies of the Australian Defence Force Reserve, being especially critical of what it said was the gross inefficiency of the military capability generated by the Army Reserve.
It also expressed the view that the Royal Australian Air Force needed to make much greater use of Reserves. The Sub-Committee, which reports to the Joint Committee of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and thus to Parliament, considered that the RAAF needed to redress its most serious operational weaknesses, namely its low aircraft to aircrew ratio, and the relatively few technical and other personnel in support of operations at forward deployment airfields.
