The USAF's latest lifter, the McDonnell Douglas C-17 recorded its maiden flight from Long Beach Airport on 15 September, completing the 2hr 24min flight at Edwards Air Force Base. Five aircraft will conduct a two year test program and 120 aircraft have been budgeted for.

Nomad Under Fire:
Following a recent incident concerning an RAAF Nomad while approaching to land at Tindal in the Northern Territory, Liberal Senator David McGibbon has called for an urgent review of the operations of the aircraft.
An experienced pilot, Senator McGibbon suggests the Nomad has been subject to considerable informed criticism over the years including that from the RAAF’s ARDU.
