Eastwest Airlines’ seventh BAe 146-300, VH-EWR, was delivered to Tamworth on 17 June. With VH-EWR entering service, F28-4000 VH-EWD was withdrawn from the Eastwest fleet and transfered to Ansett Express. In late June VH-EWD was noted in Melbourne being painted in Ansett Express colours. In July Eastwest will take delivery of VH-EWS, which is their eighth and final BAe 146-300 on order. The entry into service of VH-EWS will then see Eastwest operate their last F28 service as F28-4000 VH-EWB is retired to later enter service with Ansett Express.
Australian Airlines’ Boeing 727-276 VH-TBH departed Melbourne on 8 June on ferry to the United States. VH-TBH was withdrawn from Australian Airlines service in early March and had been parked at Melbourne while a buyer was sought. Final destination for VH-TBH in the United States was Greenwood, Mississippi where the Boeing was handed over to its new owner, The Memphis Group.
