Australian/National Jet Link on Track:
Adelaide based National Jet’s plan to operate a fleet of BAe 146 aircraft in con junction with Australian Airlines is on track for imminent approval at board level.
The new operation will to some extent allay the advantage the Ansett group currently have with both Ansett Express and East-west. National Jet will operate a number of BAe 146 jets under the umbrella of Australian using Cairns and Darwin as hubs. Maintenance will most likely be carried out in Caims and the fleet will be used to open up a secondary long/thin route network considered uneconomic with Australian’s larger 737 twinjets.
